Autistic Writers Workshop

Surround yourself with other autistic writers – and learn to trust in your own creative process.

Of all the wonderful things I've been able to do as a new business owner – from ghostwriting a novel to coaching and learning from a variety of disabled and marginalized writers – perhaps my favorite has been facilitating connections among autistic writers.

The single request I hear most often from my autistic writing community is to create a way for writers to regularly exchange feedback on their works-in-progress. So I've created a workshop where you'll be able to share your writing with a select group every month.

Here's how it works. Your $50 subscription gives you access to two 90-minute meetings each month. At least once a month, you'll be able to visually share a passage (up to 2500 words) from your work in progress. If you wish and are able, you may read it aloud. Other writers will give feedback according to the guidelines. And I'll bring what I've learned as a Certified Book Ghostwriter and professional writing coach.

The Workshop isn't just about writing. It's about unmasking – showing up as a full human. We confront the norms and the myths about writing that are holding us back, and we learn to accept the gift of our own strange, knotted, and sometimes inefficient creative brilliance.

Each month, you can attend on:

-Two Tuesdays at 11 am central US / 12 pm eastern US / 9 am Pacific / 5 pm London

-Two Thursdays at 6 pm central US / 7 pm eastern US / 4 pm Pacific / 9 am on Friday in Sydney

Or you can mix and match, or come to everything. The group will meet from August through December.

All genres of writing are welcome – fiction and nonfiction. If you plan to bring a piece of writing that you feel may not be suitable, I ask that you contact me in advance.

Participant Kevin Williams had this to say about a similar autistic writers group:

“Chris Norton's writing [workshop] is a must for anyone who wants to unleash their writing skills and unleash their creativity. Chris is a master of storytelling who… gives you practical tips on how to overcome writer's block, productively revise your work, and publish your manuscript. As an autistic writer I also found his his style very approachable and his easy-going approach helped me get productive right away. Whether you are a beginner or a seasoned writer, you will benefit from Chris's expertise and feedback. Don't miss this opportunity to learn from one of the best!”

The cost is $50 USD/month. Let me know if that's not doable for you, and we'll work something out.

As with all of my groups, it's okay to turn your camera off, communicate via the chat, stim, or ask for accommodations of any kind.

Feel free to schedule a free 30-minute call, by the way, to find out if this is right for you.

In the meantime, here are a couple distinctive aspects of the Workshop.
